Apiguard® – Organic Varroa Mite Control
Apiguard® is an organic thymol-based gel treatment developed to effectively control Varroa destructor mites in honey bee colonies. The slow-release formulation allows bees to naturally distribute the active ingredient throughout the hive, providing reliable mite control without leaving harmful residues in honey, wax or comb when used according to label directions.

How to Use
- Remove honey supers intended for human consumption before treatment.
- Place one Apiguard tray (50g) or the recommended amount of bulk gel centrally on top of the brood frames.
- Leave the first application in the hive for approximately 14 days.
- Apply a second tray or dose and leave for a further 14 days.
- Remove empty trays once the treatment is complete.
For optimum performance, Apiguard should be applied when daytime temperatures are generally between 15°C and 40°C, and colonies are strong enough to circulate the thymol throughout the hive.

Best Time to Treat
Apiguard is commonly used after honey harvest or during periods of moderate temperatures when colonies are actively flying. Regular mite monitoring before and after treatment is recommended to assess treatment effectiveness.
Always read and follow the APVMA-approved product label before use. Apiguard should be incorporated into an integrated pest management (IPM) program alongside regular mite monitoring and rotation of treatment products to help minimise the risk of resistance.
