Apivar® – Proven Varroa Mite Control

Apivar® is one of the world’s most trusted treatments for controlling Varroa destructor in honey bee colonies. Containing amitraz as its active ingredient, Apivar’s slow-release strips provide long-lasting, highly effective mite control by allowing bees to distribute the treatment naturally throughout the brood nest.

Used by commercial and hobbyist beekeepers around the world for more than 25 years, Apivar is a proven solution for reducing mite populations while supporting strong, healthy colonies. It is an important component of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.

Best Time to Treat

Apivar is typically applied after honey harvest or during periods when honey supers have been removed. Regular monitoring of mite levels before and after treatment is recommended to assess colony health and treatment effectiveness.

Always read and follow the APVMA-approved product label before use. Apivar should be used as part of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program alongside routine mite monitoring and treatment rotation to promote long-term colony health and sustainable varroa control.
