Bayvarol® – Varroa Mite Control

Bayvarol® is a flumethrin-based strip treatment designed to effectively control Varroa destructor mites in honey bee colonies. For many years, Bayvarol has been trusted by beekeepers around the world for its ease of use, long-lasting protection and proven effectiveness when used as directed.

Bayvarol strips work by releasing the active ingredient as bees move naturally throughout the hive, helping to reduce mite populations and support strong, healthy colonies. As with all varroa treatments, Bayvarol should be used as part of an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program with regular mite monitoring and treatment rotation.

How to Use

  1. Remove honey supers intended for human consumption before treatment.
  2. Place the recommended number of Bayvarol strips between brood frames where bees are actively moving (refer to the product label for dosage based on colony size).
  3. Leave the strips in the hive for the recommended treatment period.
  4. Remove all strips promptly at the end of the treatment period.

Always follow the APVMA-approved product label and rotate Bayvarol with treatments that use different active ingredients to help minimise the risk of resistance.

Best Time to Treat

Bayvarol is typically applied after honey harvest or when honey supers have been removed. Regular monitoring of mite levels before and after treatment is recommended to assess treatment effectiveness and guide future management decisions.

Always read and follow the APVMA-approved product label before use. Bayvarol should be incorporated into an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program alongside routine mite monitoring and rotation of treatment products to support long-term colony health and sustainable varroa control.
